Mantra Suggestion for February:
May I be peaceful & at ease
May I meet myself with kindness
May I be well.
This is an easy introspective mantra to start you on your meditation journey. At the beginning I would start only with 5 min of stillness (set a timer and find a spot that will reflect the positive calm energy that you want to explore during your meditation practice.) Work yourself up 1min. per day or even every 3 days.

Yoga with Daria
This week was definitely full of startling, awakening energy patterns, governed by a rare constellation of the moon, the sun and the earth forming a lunar eclipse! Some of you might feel an additional spark of energy, feel clear and awake in your mind with an inspiration to move mountains in the next months to come, while others might experience a heavy pull towards resolving past issues and unsolved, long procrastinated tasks.
Wherever you find yourself, please know that you are on the right path – YOUR PATH! Take time to celebrate your victories, write out your big & small dreams on paper or in your journal & make it happen.
Keep moving, keep practicing, stay real, stay true to yourself!

MYSORE STYLE YOGA – An introduction to a NEW LIFESTYLE
This will be an in depth study with Daria. For this workshop I will only take max. up to 10 students. If you always wondered how Ashtanga YOGA might change and transform your life? What is Pranayama? What is the connection between breath, movement and focus in your practice? What is Ujjayi? What is my internal & external body? … you will find your answers here.In this workshop, Daria will take you through the asanas of Ashtanga Primary Series, explaining and practicing with you through the first set of fundamental,seated and closing asanas. Breaking down and explaining in detail: transitions between the poses, breath and movement in combination. After this workshop you will feel ready and comfortable to step into your regular Ashtanga or any flow yoga practice. This workshop is designed for everyone (from complete beginner to intermediate practitioner), anyone who would like to develop a further understanding of yoga poses (asanas), pranayama, meditation & the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga method. APRIL in CALMAR & EDMONTON:
Guest Instructor from AYC – Calgary.We are very excited to welcome this amazing yoga teacher, AYC studio owner in Calgary, mom, compassionate, kind, energetic, full of wisdom & inspiration woman to our yoga community! For this workshop DTouch partnered up with Ashtanga Muse in Edmonton & we are hosting this 3 day workshop to provide you insights into a deeper yoga practice & inspire you to continue your YOGA journey. Here is a description of the workshops offered:
Friday evening – Welcome and Upside Down – 2 hours
We will open our workshop with an introduction and short stories from Janet about her journey into yoga practices as a method for healing chronic pain and patterns of injury. Next we will take a short review of foundational concepts in Ashtanga Yoga and how to integrate them into our asana practice. Be prepared to turn your perspective upside down to develop confidence and strength in arm balances. Yoga practices and Ashtanga based movement will warm the body and prepare the mind for an exploration of arm balances. This session will be fun and appropriate for practitioners with all levels of experience.
Saturday morning – Mysore and Community – 2 hours
This session will be a well-rounded experience. We will open with meditation and chanting followed by a Mysore style practice. Once practice is complete, we will meet in the Community space for tea and cookies while Janet gives a lecture on the importance of seasonal living and how to integrate yoga practices into every day life. We will make time for Questions & Answers, so if you have specific questions about your practice please email them to Janet ahead of time.
Saturday afternoon – Intermediate Backbending – 2 hours
Backbending is a stimulating, invigorating and challenging part of our practice. In this workshop we will look at how to backbend in a way that keeps the body out of pain and moving towards balance of the back and front bodies. Bring your bandhas, this is going to be fun!
Saturday late afternoon – Open mind, Open body – 1 1/2 hours
A guided yin and focus based practice to develop openings deep within the body. We will explore common restrictions in the physical body and develop a set of enhancements to soften our physical expression of postures, deepen our awareness of energetic patterns and ease resistance of the mind. Wear comfy clothes to stay warm.
Sunday – Extended Primary Series – 2 hours
We will move and breathe as a group through Primary Series and add on the first ten postures or so from Intermediate Series. This class is open to all students who are comfortable in Primary Series and interested in exploring Intermediate Series of Ashtanga Yoga. We will make time at the end for Question and Answer, please email your questions to Janet ahead of time.
